Election Workers Write On Ballots, And Those Ballots Count
Copied posts told voters to trade in any ballot a poll worker marks. Illinois and Wisconsin require those marks by law.

Copied posts on X, TikTok, and Facebook: "When you are checking in at the polls and they happen to write anything on your ballot before they give it to you to put in the voting machine … Make sure poll workers do not write on your ballot. It will cause your ballot to be disqualified."
Election officials in North Carolina, Illinois, and Tennessee rejected the claim. North Carolina election workers number early and mail ballots as state law requires, and Illinois and Wisconsin law require poll workers to initial each ballot before the voter gets it. Wisconsin paper ballots carry the opposite warning: a ballot missing two inspectors' initials may be invalid.
The Text"Notice to electors: This ballot may be invalid unless initialed by 2 election inspectors."
