NBC Called The House On Vote Counts. Senate Still Uncalled.

A claim said NBC planned to declare Democrats the winners of Congress. NBC had written that a wait was likelier than election-night calls.

The ClaimMisleading

Unnamed social media account, in AP's words: "NBC, even before knowing the outcome of all the congressional races, is going to declare that Democrats won control of the House and Senate."

The Truth

NBC's Election Day post on X called a projection of both chambers on election night possible if the polls proved accurate, and said a wait was more likely. By 10:11 p.m. ET, NBC had projected that Democrats will win the House, with fewer than half its races called, based on a seat estimate from a model that uses vote counts and no polling. At 10:41 p.m. ET, NBC had made no Senate projection.

The Text

"If those numbers prove accurate, it’s possible that NBC News could project control of both chambers on election night. But it’s more likely that determining the winners will take time."

Libs of TikTok: "Democrats imported millions of foreigners … and then registered them to vote … We saw the results of this scheme tonight."

The Truth

When states check their rolls, they find noncitizens in the dozens or low hundreds: Texas referred 117 cases out of 18 million registered voters, and Georgia found 20 of 8.2 million. A noncitizen's vote in a federal election is already a federal crime.

The Text

"Last fall, the agency ran the names of the state’s 18 million registered voters through the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database — a process that identified 2,724 potential noncitizens on the voter rolls."

Michigan election inspectors, as reported by the RNC: "We have received credible reports from across Michigan that election inspectors are telling voters that, if they vote a straight party ticket, they may not cross over and vote for a candidate from the other party."

The Truth

Michigan's constitution gives every registered voter the straight-party option and the right to split the ticket on the same ballot. A vote for one candidate decides that race, and the party pick fills every other partisan race. As of 9:45 p.m. EST, no state or county election office had confirmed that any inspector gave voters that instruction.

Libs of TikTok: "California is rigging the elections [the video: “if you put this in the right way -- or shall I say the wrong way, really -- you're going to get Xavier Becerra in that hole.”]"

The Truth

Ventura County's return envelope has two holes beside the signature line to guide sight-impaired voters, and one runs through to the front so workers can confirm each ballot came out. The county orders envelopes ahead of time and reuses them across elections, and a mark in the hole can belong to any of about 50 contests. Voters can insert the ballot so every choice stays hidden.

The Text

"This is a standard feature in an election ballot envelope. It helps election workers to confirm no ballot has been left behind in the envelope during processing."
